Launched in late 2008, sailing yacht BARACUDA, a 50 meter aluminum ketch, features many important project innovations. Its retracting keel passes from 4 meters to 9.7 meters and the transom door can be almost entirely opened up and transformed into a large swimming platform. Boasting a Ron Holland design, the 50 meter sailing yacht is already known for her excellent sailing performance. Perini Navi built mega yacht BARACUDA also makes a strong visual impact on several fronts, primarily by the color of the hull which is metallic gray with shades of gold, the unusual rectangular windows and the sails which come in flaming purple.

Interiors of superyacht BARACUDA are based on extreme simplicity and clear lines. Conceived British architect John Pawson, guru of modern minimalism, interior design is based on the concepts of light, space and proportion. Indeed, Perini Navi yacht charter enthusiasts will be amazed by the yacht’s volume and use of space.

On entering the main saloon, it is clear than Pawson has achieved his goal to stunning yet subtle effect. The main deck is conceived as an open living space, with a central staircase and no partitions, the aim being to keep a much clearer, unencumbered field of vision than is usually the case on sail boats as opposed to motoryachts. The walls and bulkheads are of white lacquer and parchment, the latter chosen not only for the subtle beauty of its colour and texture, but also for the way it serves to soften or “dematerialise” the central stair volume. Pawson’s architectural background is evident in the spatial fluidity that links the wheelhouse, the main saloon and the aft cockpit.

As mentioned, the a aluminum hull of this luxury yacht charter megayacht is marked by an aggressive, aerodynamic line, emphasized by an unconventional color: metallic gray with shades of gold, which combines with the silvery reflections of the superstructure. This contemporary appeal is also echoed in the portholes, which have been revisited in an unusual rectangular shape.

Shades of silver are also noticed on the two aluminum masts, main mast (56.7m, 186ft), and mizzen mast (42.9m, 140ft), as well as for the carbon fiber boom, all designed and built by Perini Navi’s Mast Division team. The 1,416m² (15,241ft²) sail area will be clothed in flaming purple, a chromatic effect providing a strong visual impact bound to surprise all traditionalists. Other yachts built by the same builder an available for rental through 1800yachtcharter include SELENE and SALUTE.
