When customers plan a , a great deal of time is spent chatting with their broker — discussing the destination, the lavish meals, the watersport toys, and the onboard amenities. Truth be told, the difference between a good and a great yacht vacation is the crew.

After a successful , the charter guests often write a testimonial as to their overall experience;  however, it is easy to overlook the “other” people onboard - the crew. Few stop to think if the crew had a good time, as this is just “their job.”  In reality, serving as crew on a luxury or , or even a smaller vessel is so much more - it is a special, free-spirited way of life that allows the crew a chance to share their lifestyle with the charter guests.

When it all comes together, even the charter crew has a good time!  Here is a “testimonial” from the crew of the vessel, :

“Dear Dori and Tom,
Mary and I can’t begin to tell you what a great time we had with you two on this past week. It was certainly one of our most fun weeks in memory! We thank you both for visiting us and sharing your time with the two of us.

We also want to thank you both for the generosity you expressed at the end of the week. It made us feel that our efforts as your crew, making your trip comfortable and enjoyable, were worthwhile. Also your kind words in our guest book and your handwritten note made us both feel the week had been much appreciated.

Please feel free to write Jim Araiza, your specialist at SailAway, a candid note telling him of your experience onboard . I am sure he would appreciate hearing from you. We will try to keep in touch albeit probably on an infrequent basis.

Mary and I hope you enjoy Vieques Island and then have a safe and quick trip home to Montevideo to be snug as a bug in your heated home, away from the winter chill!

We will motor back to Charlotte Amalie tomorrow to take care of a few things and start on to Sint Maarten and Antigua in preparation to meet some clients (now friends) there who will be sailing with us for a second time. From the forecast, it looks like we might have some pleasant light winds and slight seas.

Thanks again for your visit. We trust we will see you again in the not-too-distant future.

Regards and best wishes,

&
